Web query make it quick and easy to get instant search results with greater depth and scope. Instead of having to go to each search engine home page and type in your query, you can just enter your query in the Query Bar and push enter to perform a Group-Search to get instant search results (as shown above), not just from one search engine, but from any numbers of competing search engines of your choosing. Each query result from each search engine is display distinctively in its own tab in the Query Panel. To customize the Web Query, select the Customize... option to open the Web Query control panel as shown below.

Customizing Search Engine Queries

Predefined search engine queries are basically just a link to a page with your query included in the address. Instead of having to go to a search engine home page, search for the query box and type in your query then wait.... and get annoying popup advertising, etc..... you can just enter your query in the Query Bar and get instant search results, not just from one search engine, but from any numbers of competing search engines of your choosing. Thereby giving you greater depth and scope for each search result.

How to make custom search engine queries

You can make any custom search engine queries. The first step is to go to the search engine homepage and perform a search with a sample keyword (such as software) then wait for the search results. After the search results are loaded, copy the address of that page and paste it in a text editor (e.g. notepad), then locate the keyword in the address and replace it with the tag <?>. See an example below.

Example

Search result address : http://www.sogou.com/web?pid=&query=software

Custom query address: http://www.sogou.com/web?pid=&query=<?>

Then go to the Web Query tab from the Net Options control panel and click the New button (as shown above), you will be prompted with 2 options from the New Web Query Provider dialog box. Select the option Make my own custom search query (as shown below).

You will then be shown a Edit Query dialog, just copy and paste the custom query address you have made and give it a label. As shown below. Your new custom made search engine query is ready to use.
